Every Caregiver Deserves Support
Caring for someone living with dementia takes patience, understanding, and the right kind of support.
At Sharing Knowhow with Caregivers, I provide the knowledge, tools, and real-world strategies you need to confidently support individuals living with dementia (PLWD).
My unique approach focuses on understanding dementia from the perspective of people living with dementia (POV). When we recognize what the person is experiencing, we can transition from “doing to” to “doing with,” fostering care that is both compassionate and connected. Sometimes, it’s about “changing your agenda!”
Dementia isn’t included in the healthcare system. There’s no treatment and no cure — only care. They say that “Dementia is a family disease.” Why, because it impacts the entire family. Once we have awareness and person-centered skills, we can make an enormous difference in quality of life — both for the person living with dementia and for the caregiver.
You’ll learn how to:
- Reduce stress and care partner frustration!
- Respond instead of react: recognize unmet needs with confidence.
- “Let go of the task for a moment and focus on the relationship.”
- Connect rather than correct: you don’t need to be right, only to be on their side.
- Meet the person where they are emotionally and cognitively through GEMS States.
When you shift your perspective, you not only care better—you also do better!

The Highs and the Lows
Caring for someone living with dementia can feel like a constant balancing act — full of tender moments, but also deep challenges.
For healthcare professionals and caregivers, supporting multiple clients each day can be emotionally and physically demanding. Moments of confusion, anxiety, or distress can arise quickly. The key isn’t just what you do, but how you do it — focusing on working with the person, not to them. Small shifts in approach can completely change the outcome.
For family care partners, the journey can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. Do you ever find yourself feeling frustrated, guilty, or simply exhausted? You’re not alone. From helping a loved one through the loss of their driver’s license, to managing behavioral changes, mood swings, countless medical appointments, and eventually making the difficult decision about home care, assisted living, or long-term care — every step takes patience, time, and love.
But you don’t have to let the weight of it all overwhelm you.
When you learn practical skills and gain a deeper understanding of dementia, you can lower your stress, respond with confidence, and rediscover joy in the small moments.
Because while dementia changes many things, connection is still possible — and care can still be filled with love.
